| Matt's Graduation - 1 Feb 2012 |
On Wednesday, we left our condo at 7am as we left to go to Camp Johnson for the last time. It was a weird feeling since Matt & I were leaving our first place we ever lived in together. Matt had to go in at 8am as usual so I dropped him off and drove over to Jacksonville to run some last minute errands before heading back to base for the Logistics Officer Course graduation. The ceremony was short and sweet, just as I had been warned. It literally lasted 20 minutes and we were out of the Jacksonville area by noon.
Right after Matt's graduation we headed over to Cary, NC which is right by Raleigh to visit one of Matt's good college friends' newborn baby. (I have photos of baby Kayla but they're on Matt's phone so I'll upload them later). They had the baby 3 weeks ago and just moved into their apartment 2 days ago so they had a lot going on. We arrived around 2pm and it was nice to see Lindley & meet Kayla especially since Matt knows we won't see them all again until the baby is at least 3 years old (CRAZY!). Unfortunately Big Dan was at work until 4pm and we couldn't wait that long since we were driving all the way to PA that night.
| Leaving NYC - 2 Feb 2012 |
On Thursday, we had lunch with my brother-in-law, Mike, in Brooklyn. We ate at the Clover Club, where they are known for their drinks made by seasoned mixologists. I had a delicious Bloody Mary - I would even go as far as to say it is the best Bloody Mary I've ever had [the perfect combination of tomato, spice, heat and horseradish]. Afterwards, we picked up all of my stuff at my parents house in Queens and to say goodbye as well. As much as I am excited about moving to the west coast, I am really going to miss NYC. :(
Today, the packers and movers came and went. It went very smoothly and all our belongings should be in CA by the 22nd. It all of a sudden feels very, very real. However, I already foresee it being such a mess because Matt and I have so much stuff, but zero furniture and storage. We might have to sit and eat on cardboard boxes until we find decent furniture items... like a couch and tables. Argh.
