It's crazy how different things are between a headquarter group from an infantry unit in the Marine Corps. When we first moved to California, Matt's unit that he was initially assigned to was still deployed so they placed him in a headquarter group for a few months until the infantry unit came back from Okinawa, where their MEU was based out of. Once Matt finally transferred over, I feel like he is never home anymore! He either working late preparing for the field, being sent to Camp Lejeune for an entire month for training, or in the field for a week or more. I always knew that this was what I signed up for when I married him and moved out to California, but I guess I have just been spoiled with him coming home every night during Logistics school and when he was temporarily in the headquarter group. I suppose I am even luckier that he hasn't been deployed yet too... although that time is fast approaching. Word on the street is that the MEU he is scheduled to be on will be deploying next August, and he will be in the field training most of the time until then. This is why I decided to start writing on here again. I figure it will motivate me to find a hobby or do stuff worth writing about.
In other news, here is our photo from the Marine Corps birthday ball which was held at Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA on November 10th, the actual birthday of the Marine Corps. It was a lot more fun than the one in NC, that's for sure! Although I totally disagree, Matt thinks he looks awful because he was so tired from a pretty tiresome week in the field. I'm just happy my hair actually stayed curly the whole night!
