Boy, oh boy, is it rough out there! Never did I think that it would have been this difficult finding a job with my New York City corporate finance experience. There are plenty of postings but any sort of callback or response is rare out here! Someone told me that Southern California (or just California in general) is in the Top 5 hardest places to find a job in the continental US. Now that's encouraging... not. Luckily I have been able to go on two (soon to be three) "real" interviews so far, neither of which were good fits. However, considering how we've been out here since the end of February, it doesn't sound impressive at all!
It's so easy to get discouraged once you start sending application after application and not getting any responses. And when you do get a call, it's disappointing to find out that it's just a recruiter from some company and not actually an interested company that wants to interview for the job. I guess I just need to keep on applying and eventually something will pop up where they will actually want to hire me.
