Travel Survey - Part 2

Continued...

M - Moment where you fell in love with travel.  Exploring the streets of Vienna alone.  It made me realize that the world is so big and that there is so much I have yet to see or experience.

N - Nicest hotel you’ve stayed in.  Since the Waldorf Astoria in NYC doesn't really count because it was at home and for a friend's birthday, the nicest hotel while on a vacation is a toss up between the Hilton in Nashville and the Marriott in Waikiki.

O - Obsession, what are you obsessed with taking pictures of while traveling?  Sunsets!  It's nature's daily artshow.
P - Passport stamps, how many and from where?  I have stamps split up between 3 passports so I honestly have no idea.  I have been to 9 countries outside of the United States though.

Q - Quirkiest attraction you’ve visited and where.  Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX during the cross country road trip.  Whoever decided that it would be cool to bury a bunch of old Cadillacs halfway into the ground and allow people to spray graffiti over them... was right!

R - Recommended sight, event or experience.  Any study abroad experience.  It's the best way to meet not only people your age from that country, but all sorts of other international students too!  It's also the easiest way to immerse yourself into a different culture while learning and getting school credit for it.  And it is an experience that for anyone who has done it, will remember for the rest of their lives.

S - Splurge, something you have no problem forking over money for while traveling.  Anything that is unique to that place that I cannot get in America, whether it is food or entrance fees to a museum or monument, etc.  I never want to go home with that "coulda woulda shoulda" feeling.

T - Touristy thing you’ve done.  The most touristy trip I've taken was probably Paris.  I only had a couple days so I wanted to hit up every "touristy" spot-- The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Arc du Triomphe, Champs Elysees, etc.
U - Unforgettable travel memory.  There are numerous unforgettable memories! Running for the train to Prague as it was pulling away from the station in Vienna is sticking out in my mind right now though.  One of the workers on the train had to pull me up because the train was already moving!  My cousin made it on right before it started to move and I swore on that one millisecond that I would be stuck in the Vienna train station while my cousin was on her way to Prague!

V - Visas, how many and for where?  Um, I think the only visa I had to get was the student visa for Australia.

W - Wine, best glass of wine while traveling and where?  On our road trip to North Carolina, Matt and I sat on the beach in Cape May, NJ as two newlyweds staring up at the stars on a really clear night with a beer and glass of wine.  That day, we managed to find two bottles of wine I had already tried and loved while still living in NYC.  So it was just a win-win scenario.

X - eXcellent view and from where?  There are always those expected breathtaking views on top of tall buildings and designated look out spots, but one of the greatest views I've had was when Matt and I went hiking along the Colorado trail on our trip visiting Matt's aunt & uncle in Durango, CO.  We were about 11,000+ feet above sea level, pretty much on top of a mountain, the sky was clear and blue, and the views were just unbelievable.

Y - Years spent traveling? Since I was eighteen... so it would be about 7 now. Ugh, I feel old.

Z - Zealous sports fans and where?  I've only been to a few sports games ever... a couple of Mets games (New York fans are just in a league of their own), one Penn State football game (coming from a college with about zero sports, "real" college fans are insane!), and Australian rugby games (both Aussie rules and Rugby union, but with either one, Aussies are serious about their rugby!).
