Deployment

Yes, that oh so dreaded word that I've been trying not to hear for the past year and a half.  Matt heard through the grapevine yesterday from an officer in another unit that his unit will be deploying on a MEU next June with Matt's unit.  No one actually has officially informed Matt about the deployment yet but it seemed that it was probably going to happen.  That gives me one year and three months to prepare.  I'm just happy that it's on a MEU, despite Matt's disappointment.

Spending half a year alone seems like so long, and quite daunting.  I don't really want to think about it too much because it will probably grow into some form of resentment down the line.  I'm sure the key is to always keep busy and hopefully I will have a job by then, as well as some friends out here.  I know it's completely different because we were able to see each other regularly, but I'm sure if I was able to survive OCS and TBS in New York, I can survive a deployment.
