After a [what seemed to be] very long cross-country road trip, Matt & I arrived at the Pacific Ocean, the west coast, San Clemente, our new town to call home on February 13th. When we got here, we thought we were able to find an apartment and move in right away. We were so wrong. After living out of hotel rooms on the road for eight nights, we were very ready to sleep on our own bed and in our own place. It took a few days for the apartment application process to go through with credit checks and the whole shebang, but we finally got a nice roomy two bedroom apartment in a triplex one block away from the main downtown street and a 3 minute walk from the pier and ocean. We couldn't be any happier with the location. It also took a few days after we got the apartment for our belongings to come out of storage so we had to sleep in our sleeping bags for a few nights in our apartment until the movers came with all our stuff. Three exremely long weeks after we hit the road, we are now finally fully unpacked, settled in, and ready to start our new life in San Clemente, California!
Matt starts his real job this Friday at his temporary unit (the unit he is officially assigned to is deployed on a MEU ship so they placed him somewhere else for the time being), which means I will have the weekdays all to myself again. I'll take this opportunity to tidy up my resume, brush up on interview skills, update myself on current events, and conduct a full out job search. I am unbelievably nervous for a number of reasons: I worked in the same company for the last six years, I haven't been on a real interview since I was about 20 years old (a whole five years ago... eep!), I haven't been working since the end of last September which means I also haven't been around the whole business world for that long, and lastly, I have to drive 30-45 minutes to where all the company offices are in Irvine every time I have to interview, and hopefully whenever I find a job. I guess it's time to dust off my suits. :(
