It's kind of bittersweet being back home because I am scheduling my last get-togethers with friends before I move out to California for the next 3 years (or more). It's still quite unbelievable and almost too good to be true. Since I was about 15 years old, I always dreamt of moving out to Southern California where there are palm trees, wonderful weather, and a more laid back lifestyle. I was never able to figure out a good/logical enough reason to actually get there... so who knew that the accountant I was dating from work was the one who would get me there by marrying me and becoming a Marine officer!?
Well, I decided to get a head start on the move to California by driving our car and most of our stuff that was in North Carolina back up to New York since Matthew will be in the field this whole week. To save me from an 11 hour drive alone, Karl, my brother, flew down on Friday to hang out with us and accompany me on the mini-road trip up north. We left at 6:45am yesterday and got home at 5:30pm. We didn't hit any traffic until we got into the city, of course. Leave it up to New York City to delay what would have been a super smooth drive.
Luckily, we got home yesterday just in time for the Giants' NFC Championship game, which they won in OT. I am so glad that they won because 1) since I have been forced to watch every single Giants game this season, I have gotten really into cheering for them and 2) I really don't think Matt could have handled Joe Paterno's death and a Giants loss all in one day. I tried to stay awake and watch it but my eyes just could not stay open so I fell asleep right when they were going into overtime. Matt called me to say goodnight/see you on Saturday and to let me know they won.
We took this picture on Saturday while we were packing up the apartment and it cracks me up every single time I look at it. Personally, I don't think Eli Manning has anything on my husband in camouflage. haha. ;)
OMG!!! This is HILARIOUS!
